Abstract: This report analyses the state of Kenya's economy in 2021 and into 2022. It focuses on key macroeconomic developments such the impact of the war in Ukraine, employment and jobs, poverty rates and an update on the digital economy. It also includes an assessment of sectoral performance with a discussion on the differences in sectoral performance and its impact on the quality of GDP growth as well as analysis on the financial health of Kenyans, focusing on the features of the decline in financial health and its drivers. Insights on divergent recovery by Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE) and the features of what has driven MSE resilience and vulnerability are explored. Anzetse Were co-authored the report.
