Abstract: Kenya is a dynamic and growing economy, which recognizes the nexus between Energy,Climate Change and People, and the critical role of achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Kenya?s fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV)recognizes that Energy plays a key role in enhancing adaptive capacity, resilience to climate change and resource use efficiency across the different sectors. Decarbonization of the energy sector and corresponding sectors requires urgent action to enable Kenya to achieve 100% clean energy on the Kenyan grid by 2030,100% access to clean cooking by 2028 and help keep the country on track to meet its commitment goal of Net Zero by 2050. The Renewable Energy Integration (REI) Program will help enable Kenya to meet its updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) goal to abate Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions by 32% by 2030 relative to the Business as Usual (BAU) scenario of 143 MtCO2eq in line with her sustainable development agenda.
