Abstract: The research brief provides an overview of key outcomes from recent Conferences of the Parties (COPs) on climate change, desertification, and biodiversity, focusing on their implications for Africa. It highlights the commitment at COP29 to increase climate finance to $300 billion annually by 2035 to support developing countries, though this falls short of Africa?s growing needs. A significant outcome is the establishment of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD), but the $700 million pledged so far covers only 0.6% of Africa?s projected climate-related damages by 2030. The brief underscores the gap between commitments and Africa?s requirements, emphasizing the continent?s minimal contribution to global emissions yet high vulnerability to climate impacts
