Abstract: This concept note outlines a seminar titled “Reflecting on 60 Years of US-Kenya Diplomatic Engagement: Advancing Climate Action and Renewable Energy Together,” scheduled for February 2025 at the Kenya School of Government. It commemorates six decades of collaboration between the U.S. and Kenya, focusing on joint efforts in renewable energy and climate resilience. Kenya has emerged as a leader in Africa’s clean energy landscape—generating over 75% of its electricity from renewable sources—with substantial U.S. support through financing, technical partnerships, and initiatives like Power Africa. The seminar aims to highlight past milestones, explore innovative pathways for future cooperation (including e-mobility, capacity building, and green finance), and promote dialogue between government, academia, private sector, and civil society. It will feature panel discussions, moderated exchanges, and a Q&A session. The event is organized by the University of Nairobi’s Africa Center for the Study of the U.S., in partnership with the U.S. Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Section.
