Abstract: This summary highlights the African regional webinar on ageing and climate change, part of the global dialogue series convened by SEI, HelpAge International, and Prototopia. It explores how climate change disproportionately impacts older populations in Africa, particularly in least-developed countries (LDCs) with weak health and social protection systems. The dialogue addressed climate-induced vulnerabilities?including heat exposure, droughts, food and water insecurity, and displacement?and called for better integration of older persons in climate policy and adaptation frameworks. Kenyan-specific contributions included tree planting campaigns, climate-resilient agriculture in Naro County, and references to policy frameworks such as CEAPs. The summary proposes multi-pronged recommendations: mainstream ageing into NDCs/NAPs, invest in life-course resilience, promote intergenerational solidarity, and develop inclusive legal and planning systems.
