Abstract: This paper explores how construction of the SGR affected both the environment and the socioeconomic conditions of Ngong Town in Kajiado County. Through field research across four villages?Kerarapon, Olepolos, Kibiko, and Kimuka?the study documents changes in land use, water availability, and local biodiversity. While infrastructure improved transport connectivity, most communities suffered from disrupted agricultural systems, reduced access to clean water, and deteriorating livelihoods. Pollution, soil erosion, and conflict over compensation and relocation emerged as major concerns. The analysis critiques the inadequacies in stakeholder engagement and environmental management protocols prior to project implementation. Ultimately, the study proposes robust mitigation frameworks including improved EIA practices, community inclusion in planning, and ecological restoration. It provides granular insights for policymakers balancing development with sustainability.
