Abstract: This guide provides a comprehensive overview of Kenya?s regulatory and financing landscape for implementing energy efficiency (EE) projects in the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector. It outlines the policy framework anchored in the Energy Act of 2019, highlights challenges such as lack of compliance with energy audits and limited financing options, and assesses existing and potential financing models, including Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) and third-party financing. The document introduces opportunities for public-private cooperation through Super ESCO models, and offers practical recommendations to enhance EE adoption by local firms. It aims to align Kenyan EE initiatives with global standards and business models, fostering energy conservation, improved competitiveness, and climate mitigation in line with Kenya?s sustainability goals.
