A Contractual Relationship With Environmental Justice

Abstract: This academic paper explores how corporate-community contracts can advance environmental justice. Through mechanisms such as benefit agreements, it proposes that formalized commitments can address pollution impacts and uneven power dynamics. Legal and enforcement challenges are examined alongside the role of nonprofits in shaping contractual design and accountability. It highlights how contract law can promote procedural and distributive justice, especially in marginalized communities affected by environmental degradation.
