Abstract: This biannual report presents Kenya's energy sector performance for the first half of FY 2023/2024, emphasizing electricity, petroleum, and renewables. Renewable sources contributed 84.93% to power generation, with geothermal leading at 44.6%. Captive solar PV capacity rose to 196.2 MW, while overall installed capacity hit 3,689.5 MW. Electric mobility grew via a dedicated tariff, and Kenya's first green hydrogen plant launched in Nakuru. LPG consumption rose by 8%, and grid access reached 9.46 million users. The report also details emissions, system losses (23.2%), reliability indices, tariff trends, and fuel quality monitoring with 98.6% compliance. Competition metrics and electricity market shares are presented. The report underscores Kenya?s energy transition, policy reforms, infrastructure improvements, and sector innovation.
